Do You Have Other Clinics I Can Go To
We only have one Australian Breath Clinic Office in Sydney, and Dr. Speiser is the only dentist qualified to do a full assessment for bad breath. However we have sold Halicheck machines to dentists in Melbourne and Brisbane. You can contact these clinics directly and organise to have a breath reading performed. Once you have the results please come back and call us. We can then aid your diagnosis over the phone and make our recommendations to you. That said, most times we can make this diagnosis with a few pertinent questions and we do not even need the Breath Reading. So this would save you considerable extra expense. Why not call us on 1300-653-335 and we can discuss your options with you and see if it is necessary to have a reading done.
How Can You Be Sure You Can Treat Me
When you arrive at our clinic in Sydney, the first thing we will do is use our patented Halicheck Machinery to examine an air sample from your mouth for Volatile Sulphur Compounds. Halicheck is cutting edge gas chromatography, and enables us to look at over 50 individual gases that can be present in mouth air. It is the only test that can harness oral gas diagnostic technology. Previously bad breath could only be analysed subjectively through smell. This was called "organoleptic testing".
Next we will examine your saliva for pH levels, buffering capacity and saliva volume to determine if the saliva is adequate to maintain a healthy bacterial mouth balance. We will test for acids caused by environmental issues such as soft drinks, coffees, and mouthwash, as well as the ability of your saliva to remove sulphur compounds from the mouth.
Next we ask you to fill in a detailed lifestyle quiz, that will show us your cleaning routine of the teeth, gums, and tongue. We will also examine your medical history, all medications you take. We will look at your social history, and also your food intake. Lifestyle can play a large part in a bad breath problem, and only an experienced clinic is able to review these issues correctly.
Finally, armed with all the above information we will then perform a clinical examination of your mouth. Here we will look for confirmation of issues that we have already picked up, as well as looking for gingivitis, periodontitis, post nasal drip, tongue biofilm etc. The complete examination takes approximately one hour. |
